Freya is here with some advice for cam models!

As a webcam model, we are constantly focused on the amount of tokens we have made. 20 for this, 100, for that, 1000 for another and 3333 for dream tip, or any variation of that. We log on each day and try to stay positive because positive energy attracts the same, but sometimes, it is difficult to stay that way. Sometimes, we don’t make our goal. It feels like we have failed.

What could we have done differently to get those tokens? It must be something we did or didn’t do. It can’t possibly be the fact that it was just a slow day and there were more models on than there were members who were interested in what we were offering.

Toxic Nature of the work

With so much focus on rankings, tokens and competition, this business can become very cut-throat. It can make us question ourselves in very dangerous ways. We begin to believe that the only way to get ahead, to compete with the other models, is to change ourselves to suit what we believe our clients are looking for.

In any situation, the things I have mentioned above are unhealthy at best. More so, they are downright dangerous to our emotional, mental, and sometimes physical health. We can become depressed, believing we are not good enough. This can lead us down some very dark paths. Sometimes, it can result in us changing ourselves so much that we no longer recognize the person in the mirror. If we just change our hair, workout more, get a surgery to enhance our body in some way, it will be the ticket to the fortune others seem to be making from camming.

By the same token, changing is part of life. It is perfectly healthy to do the things I mention here, and everyone has their own reasons. But my point is that doing so for the wrong reasons can really hurt our personal health.

Reaching for the top

I am not a “top model”, nor do I aspire to be. I do not wish to be at the top of the page. I do keep track of my tokens, and sometimes it does get the best of me. But, I have come to realize that being authentic and real, and being myself gets me farther in the end than changing things around to suit what I believe others will pay for.

Members will be attracted to us far more if they see us having fun, being carefree, and engaging with them. Even if we wear no makeup on cam or we don’t have or best outfit on, they care far more about the experience we provide while they are in our chatroom in the end.

Always remember…

The important thing to remember in this line of work is that we are not defined by a token, a camscore, a rank or what space we are on the page. We are in competition with no one but ourselves. Sure, we hustle. But being in constant competition with other models is not the way to make it in this business long term.

Yes, there are models who make the top page every single day. Yes, it is possible to make $1000 or more a day from camming. But constantly expecting that kind of success will only hurt us in the end. There so many other models on the sites who are successful who will never be front page. It is all about being realistic about what you expect from the job. It is unavoidable that we will have low earning days on cam. It happens to everyone. Sometimes it lasts for a few days, a week or several. Yes, we can change things up to try to make more. Just don’t change who you are in the process.

In conclusion

Be yourself. Be imperfect. Be real. Members appreciate these things far more than seeing someone trying to do things they obviously aren’t comfortable with. Be silly, joke around an have fun. It is far more beneficial to you and your members than continually changing to try to fit in.
