When “long distance” is added to a relationship, it causes a shift. A shift in how we connect, communicate, and pleasure each other. You may be wondering, why self inflict yourself with a dry spell? Well in this day in age the absence of your partner doesn’t bring cause for a drought. Rather it can be a fun, creative, and erotic experience for both people.
Sure self-pleasure is one thing, but how do you keep the spark alive and connect sexually while in different cities. This can present some interesting challenges. However, it has allowed us to explore our relationship in a new way. Discover each other in new and exciting ways.
Things we’re trying out
1. Sexy & regular care packages –
This is a big category. I’ve sent him a few packages with some random things, both sexual and non-sexual. I’ve included sexy things like pussy sours, masturbation sleeves (such as a Tenga egg), and lube. I also have include more “regular” things like pictures of us together. “Open When” letters, snacks (he loves nuts so lots of those), and other random things I pick up while I’m out and about.
2. Sexting –
Sort of a given but still very important. For this we’ve mostly used Snapchat and texting (but whatsapp would work just as well). These apps provide a little bit more security and encryption than other messaging apps. With some new legislation in the US there are also some platforms that will suspend you if there is any nudity involved (you’ve been warned).
3. Sexy to-dos –
Something else that we’re exploring is a to-do list of sorts. Given each other a specific time of day when they need to cum, something I need to buy and tell the sales clerk why I’m buying them (example clothespins for nipple clamps). We’ve also started to compile a sex bucket list of things to do the next time we’re together such as different positions and locations to try.
4. Using Bluetooth enabled toys –

5. Sending erotic stories –
This is hot. Sometimes I’m having a tough day and I’ll get a link to an erotic story from my boyfriend and almost immediately be cheered up. Or at least less grumpy. We send each other stories about things we want to explore sexually, about things we’ve enjoyed together, or just random things that turn us on.

There are many things we have tried and even more things we haven’t tried to spice up our long-distance relationship. Some have worked well for us and some just aren’t a good fit.
