Camming with a Chronic Illness

Freya is here with some sex education about camming with chronic illness.

Unlike most jobs, camming has some unique benefits. We are essentially independent business owners. We can set our own hours, be as creative as we want within the site regulations, and we can go to work naked…that last one is my favorite!  We can work around our crazy life schedules, affording us the ability to care for our families, take vacations, or days off when we need to practice self – care.

Like many others in the camming community, I live with chronic illnesses.

I am in physical pain most of the time, and some days, camming just isn’t possible.  Sometimes, I have the desire to cam so badly that I get frustrated with my body, but still it’s not going to happen.  That’s when it’s time to listen to my body and take the day off.  On those days, I usually focus on my writing or other off – cam work.  It helps me feel like I am still accomplishing something while still allowing my body to rest.

Sometimes I do cam while my body isn’t so cooperative, but I often struggle with activities for my chat room to keep it interesting and keep members engaged.  On those days, I often offer games and discount my content to give myself a chance to still make good money.  It is still a struggle, but there are a lot of things we can do to still be profitable.

At times, my anxiety is heightened, and I just feel off.

I know I am not the only one who feels this way.  Let’s face it, shit happens.  We are real people with real lives, real problems and struggles.  We go through the same things our viewers do, but because we provide a fantasy, we feel we must be on all the time.  These are the days when I will put my laptop away, turn off my phone, and completely focus on caring for myself.  As business owners, most of us hate taking breaks, but it is unavoidable.  Being on cam when you just aren’t feeling it is sometimes worse than not getting on at all.  It can become a domino effect, only exacerbating our mental health and causing us much more trouble in the long run that if we would have just taken the day off.

I am sure I am not the only one of us who struggles with ideas for times when we need to have a low – key day on cam, so if you have any ideas or tips, tweet me and let me know so I can gather them for an update to this post.  I can’t wait to hear your thoughts!
