4 Scams to Watch out For in Camming

The money in sex work can be a huge draw for many…

But most cammers have experienced a scammer or been scammed, themselves. If you are new to the world of camming, make sure you keep an eye out for the following tricks users can use to scam you.

It’s important to know: Do NOTHING until the money is in your hands.

1.) The Basic Promise

This is the easiest scam to spot. “Show me your titties first to entice me, THEN I’ll pay!” There are thousands of ways that users will try to take a peek without having to pay you. Whether it’s asking what type of underwear or bra you may be wearing and if they can “look at the color” or promising they will “pay as soon as their check gets in”. If I had a token for every time someone tried something like this…

They would have actually paid me.

Make sure you don’t show anything unless that’s a part of your orchestrated show. Those who frequent cam sites and tip models KNOW they must tip first before getting anything. You aren’t busting any bones by mentioning such things. Just a boner that wanted free naughty bits. These are pay to play sites, own that.

2.) Wishlist Scam

Wishlists are a wonderful thing to have. Put your heart’s desires all over for others to see and spoil you! That being said, many will try to find a way to take advantage of this useful tool.

If you offer an exchange of videos or actions for wishlist items, ALWAYS ensure you wait to deliver until after the item shows up at your door. Not only have scammers perfected the Amazon ‘shipped’ email but they will claim to the death that they have bought the item. In actuality, they are not only able to cancel the order before it ships but can mark an item on your list as ‘bought elsewhere’. This erases your wishlist item as though it has been purchased when in actuality it has not.

Tip: If you are worried a user has done this, wait a day or two after purchase for the item to ship and contact Amazon. They can tell you if a wishlist item has been marked as purchased elsewhere or actually purchased for you.

3.) Purchasing Apps

If you allow users to use purchasing apps or Paypal, keep in mind that most apps don’t approve of adult transactions and will close your account if they are aware you’re using them for such. This can equal a hold on your money and be incredibly inconvenient if these are your primary ways to pay for goods and services.

Another good thing to know? A lot of orders can be reversed. It’s wise to use the primary camming site as your only way to get paid. That being said, it’s not realistic for many to follow this advice. It’s good to know that users can, for a short time after the purchase, reverse payment. Wait until the money is secured in your account before sending or doing anything.

Using an e-gift card is a great way to ensure you can apply something directly to your account without waiting for the transaction or several days. I recommend Amazon e-gift cards. At least until you are aware that the user is trustworthy.

4.) The Model Promoter

This can be both a promotional twitter account, or user in your room. If someone is looking to ‘get you more followers’ if you simply ‘send them some pictures or content to advertise’ or ‘do a free show for a winner of their contest’…RUN!

The only thing that will get you more followers is YOU. Don’t put your eggs in their basket and bend to the will of someone who is most likely NOT a sex worker and only wants your product for free.

Also, some cammers LOVE having other models in their room to converse with. This can absolutely be a blessing and a curse, in my opinion. Although comparing models is often like apples to oranges, some cammers will use your room to advertise. There’s even many users who will pretend to be models on twitter and elsewhere to ‘exchange’ content with you.

My advice? Have tons of sex worker friends! But if they start asking for pictures or product from you or advertising their room in yours? Get rid of it. There’s no place for fake accounts looking for free nudes or those who don’t respect your room.

Happy Camming!

I hope you have the best of luck as a cammer! Be sure to keep an eye out for any potential scams and keep yourself safe.
